About Niamh Cooper

Here's a glimpse of my writing and professional experience, so you can get an idea of what I have worked on, and decide if we're a good fit.

After growing up bi-lingually in Germany (English and German), it was no surprise I ended up studying languages at University College, Cork. Jobs were scarce in Ireland at the time so I relocated to London, where I started my career in training and quality, which took me to Dublin, Vienna, and many other places.

​

I returned to Ireland to work in AOL, and then Microsoft, writing all the while. I took a break when my daughters were born, starting a new career in publishing when they were young.

Here are some of my proudest accomplishments: 

 

Writing and Literary

• I ghostwrote a novel which went on to be shortlisted, in abridged format, for the Fish Publishing Short Memoir Prize.

• My novel reached the top 5% in the Bridport Prize Novel Opening Competition 2025.

• My poem The Promised Land won 2nd prize Bard of Connaught Poetry Competition 2023, and was broadcast on New York radio

• I am a published author: Die Mündliche, Folens Publishers 2020, over 8,000 copies sold

• I write regularly for national and regional publications

• I am currently studying for an MA in Creative Writing, University of Hull)

• I hold a BA Hons English and French, UCC, and an Abitur (equivalent A-levals/Leaving Cert)

• I am bilingual in English and German, with professional French.

 

Training and Facilitation

• I built the training training team at Microsoft EOC Dublin from a one-person team to a team of five. We designed and implemented a certification programme which almost tripled new hire retention

• My EOC training team won multiple site-wide awards for outstanding work in training, instructional design and learning management

• We designed and delivered Train the Trainer, Instructional Design and Project Management programmes site-wide

• I designed CRM training across 14 EMEA countries for approximately 350 Microsoft sales staff

• I was certified in training, coaching and mentoring in AT&T and AOL

• In 1996, I was nominated for the AT&T Integrity Award by a trainee, in recognition of contribution to team development and culture

• I've held training, project management and communications roles at Microsoft, Amazon, AT&T, AOL, Post and Telekom Austria, An Post, Tesco and more.
